Fabio Nonino is Full Professor of Management Engineering at the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering "Antonio Ruberti" (DIAG) of Sapienza University of Rome.
EDUCATION AND ACADEMIC POSITIONS
He gained a M.S. in Management Engineering from the University of Udine in 2002 and, until December 2005, he was a research fellow at the Department of Electrical, Management, and Mechanical Engineering of University of Udine and at the Department of Mechanical, Electrical and Management Engineering of the University of Padua. In 2008 he obtained a PhD in Management Engineering from the University of Padua. From 2010 to 2014 he was assistant professor in Management Engineering at the Department of Computer Engineering, Control and Management "Antonio Ruberti" at Sapienza University of Rome.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES
He is Ful Professor of Business Management and Project Management at the Master of Science in Management Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome.
He is member of board of the PhD in Industrial and Management Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome, lecturer and supervisor of 7 doctoral students. He has been invited lecturer in several BSc, MSc and Doctorate courses.
He is Director of the Advanced Course in Project, Program and Portfolio Management and member of the Scientific Committee of the University Master's Degree in Logistics and Communications for Complex Systems at Sapienza University of Rome. He is the scientific coordinator of the Executive Master Advanced Project Management Program at the Business School of Il Sole 24 Ore.
Since 2008, he has been supervisor of 150 master thesis for the MSc in Management Engineering and of 55 thesis for the BSc in Management Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
He carries out his research activities in the field of Management focusing on Operations and Service Management, Innovation Management and Organizational Behavior Development.
He authored 86 scientific publications distributed as follows: 1 international book, 24 papers in international scientific journals, 2 Italian books, 8 book chapters in international book, 34 papers in international conference proceedings, 8 papers in Italian scientific journals, 5 book chapters in Italian books, 2 contributions in Italian conference proceedings and 1 PhD thesis.
He is reviewer for more than 20 scientific journals including leading international journals such as Omega – The Journal of Management Science, International Journal of Production Research, Supply Chain Management - An International Journal, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change.
He was principal investigator for the Sapienza research unit within the European project COLLECTIVE (Emerging communities for collective innovation: ICT tools and supporting Operational Methodologies for SME Associations). He has participated as researcher in other projects funded by European Commission: International Operations Management (IOM), Virtual Enterprise for Supply Chain Management (V-CHAIN), Advanced Strategies and Tools for Supply Chain Management Asian Virtual Environment (V-CHAIN ASIA), Extended Collaborative Selling Chain Management (ECOSELL). He has been principal investigator and researcher in more than ten National and Regional research project. He has collaborated with several institutions and companies, including Aprilia Piaggio Group, Febal, Finmeccanica, illycaffè, Permasteelisa and Poste Italiane.
He participates in the activities of numerous scientific associations. From 2013 to 2015, he was the National Secretary of Italian Scientific Association of Management Engineering. From 2011, he is member of the Committee for the Development of Scientific and Technological Culture established by The Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research.
In 2008 he founded the academic spin-off, The Business Game Ltd, operating in the market of management education through the use of business game where he holds positions of scientific responsibility.
ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Since the academic year 2014, he is the President of the Monitoring Committee (formerly the Evaluation Board of the Faculty) of the Faculty of Information Engineering, Informatics, and Statistics of the Sapienza University of Rome. He was President of Quality Team of the Information Engineering, Informatics, and Statistics of the Sapienza University of Rome in the academic year 2011/2012. Since the academic year 2013/2014, he is a member of the Monitoring Committee of the Faculty. He is responsible for the placement of the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering "Antonio Ruberti".
